AUTISM & SELF-EMPLOYMENT: SEEKING PARTICIPANTS FOR SURVEY

Michelle Lazar, MT-BC, graduate student at San Diego State University is conducting research to explore the viability of self-employment as a career option for adults with autism spectrum disorders.

You are eligible to complete this survey if you are a) 18 years or older, b) have been diagnosed with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, or PDD-NOS, and c) have been self-employed for any length of time. You can still participate if you also have an “employed” job in addition to your self-employed work. Your parent, caregiver, or job coach may assist you in completing the survey.

Self-employment is also referred to as freelance work, contractual work, sole-proprietor, or owning your own business. This could include selling greeting cards or artwork, providing professional services as a contractor such as computer repair, being paid for freelance musical or stage performances, selling things over the internet, and many other types of work.
